<br> Good Morning & Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a wonderful week. It's sun shining, a bit chilly but the sun is out so we'll enjoy the day! We're going for a four wheeler ride in the woods today and I'm looking forward to it. I also have four bindings to put on quilts so my afternoon is full but will take time to play tonight. We've been busy at the shoppe this week. Our sale is still going on and people are loving it. Yesterday was so busy I never stopped all day long. It was a beautiful day for people to take a road trip up to see me! At 6:30pm I sat for the first time and told Mike just hand me a pillow and I'd sleep there!!<grin> I do love being so busy and not knowing the time until I look outside and see it's almost dark outside. We've got some beautiful fabrics in stock now. I helped a Newbie Quilter pick out fabrics for her first quilt yesterday! It was fun watching her and seeing how excited she was to start on it! I told her to bring it in once she's done so I could see it! The Lakehouse fabrics that came in are beautiful fabrics, Maywood's Return To Romance (this will be the last shipment of this fabric), Kamla's Brushed Cotton/Homespuns, South Seas Safe Harbor, Moda's Bar Harbor and a few odds and ends! These are all listed in New Fabrics!

<br>  Have you heard of the new magazine out called Mary Jane Farms? Well, one of my friends had told me about it and I wrote it down to look at it when I had time. It was lost on my desk for a while but found it and thought I'd look into it that day and I received a phone call from the distributor That Day!! So, we have these being shipped to us. I've heard from several that they are really great magazines! They should be here in a week or so! There is quilting in them as well as gardening, recipes and more!

<br>Block a Month Programs:
<br> Some people ask what a block a month is. Every month you will receive a fabric packet and either a pattern or book which tells you the way to cut and sew the block together. We stay within the same color way as the picture shows. Our fabrics are not marked, you just follow the color way. Then every month after we will ship you a fabric packet until you've made all the blocks and then you can sew the quilt together. People seem to love doing block a months! Anytime that you have a question all you have to do is pick up the phone and we'll try and answer them. Once you've signed up for a block a month you will automatically receive the next blocks monthly.
<br> If you want your block a months shipped the least expensive way let me know or they will be shipped out Priority Mail! If we can we will ship them in a manila envelope that will save you money monthly!
<br>**If you are a beginner quilter and are afraid of joining a block a month please ask for Fat 1/8th grouping of the fabrics that will be used in the block a month. We will be happy to cut this for you. That way if you make a mistake you'll have fabric on hand for the error!! It's something new that we are starting!

<br> We are joining American Patchwork & Quilting Million Pillowcase Challenge!!
<br>Please join with us at the Cotton Patch in making pillowcases from not until December 2010! My goal is to have 5000 made by the end of the year and I need your help! The pillowcases will all go toward Ann Arbors Crippled Children's Hospital & The Domestic Violence Home that we have near us. Most of you know of my family spending many hours at Ann Arbor with my granddaughter Harlie Donielle but I do have to say she is one of the lucky ones with her disability. There are so many children fighting for their lives at this hospital. Every time you walk down the halls you can see the children and just know in your heart that they are fighting some kind of battle. So why not give back to the hospital that has taken such good care of my granddaughter and many others like her or worse! The Domestic Violence Home here in our community houses many women and children. Being in a situation in my previous life I feel that this home needs some support as well. So Please help us reach our goal! You can send your pillowcases to us at the address listed. Cindy and I will be heading this challenge for the shoppe. If you have questions please give us a phone call or email and we'll help you in any way that we can. If you are in need of some pillowcase kits we do have kits available for 30% Off for this project. <br>  Mike has been really busy with quilting quilts!  He now is doing Meandering free motion style and this is the same price as the all over quilting. People are loving it!! We receive quilt tops every day in the mail for him to quilt. If you're looking for someone to quilt those tops that you've had in your closets get them out and send them to us! He's a perfectionist and you won't be sorry! He does not do custom quilting at this time. He will do some stitch in the ditch.

<br>I have to take this time to THANK each and everyone of you that holds my family in their prayers every day. I know that prayer is so powerful and has helped us get through each and every day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. What would we do without you! THANK YOU!

<br>  Are doing good! I'll be going down and spending the night with them this week. Cheryl my sister in law has surgery one day and then the next morning I'll take my mom and dad for my mother's shot in her hip. Plus I'll be able to see my girls and grandkids!!<grin>

<br>  Sherry came up and spent a day with me at the shoppe this week. She helps me so much, I love having her come up. We're going to be re-arranging the shoppe again in the next couple of weeks, just in time for the shop hop and Spring!

<br>  I just received a phone call from Tommy! He and Jamie are in Oklahoma now and are on their way to San Diego, CA! They're driving in separate cars and think they'll be there in a couple more days. He sounded so good and happy with his dog Cabela with him! A new life, a new career! He told me about basic training and their dreams of the future. He talked about what he wanted to go back to school for, he's amazing! We all love our Tommy! He talked about being a Navy Seal...!! We have a cousin that is a Navy Seal and is doing just fine. Who knows where they'll be or what they'll be doing but with prayers they'll be just fine. We all miss them already! 
<br>
<br>  I've been having major problems with my hips and legs for the last year. I kept telling myself and my family I'd call the doctor but would talk myself out of it. I haven't been to a doctor in years! I can deal with a lot of pain but it was getting pretty bad. So, one afternoon I was in so much pain I called to make an appointment. Well...an appointment for the next morning was made!! Yikes!! A new doctor had taken over my regular doctors practice so I was a little bit leery. He worked on my legs and hips for a few minutes and determined I have arthritis! Gave me a prescription and I do have to say the drug seems to be working!! Amen! I told him I knew that I had gained a lot of weight and feel like I should be rolled instead of walking<grin> He looked at my file and said I had only gained 2 lbs in 10 years..not too bad! Must just be shifting around! He asked how many meals I have a day and told him 1 from 6pm-10pm!! He laughed and said we'd get along just fine!

<br>Cottage Cheese Cookies
<br>
<br>1/2 cup margarine
<br>1 cup sugar
<br>1/2 cup large curd cottage cheese (I do use small)
<br>1 egg
<br>1/2 tsp vanilla
<br>1/4 to 1/2 tsp lemon flavoring
<br>1 3/4 cups flour
<br>Chopped nuts
<br>
<br>Heat oven 350* Ungreased cookie sheet
<br>
<br>Cream butter, sugar, cottage cheese and egg together with electric mixer
<br>Blend in rest. Drop by tsp onto cookie sheet. Makes about 3 dozen. These are chewy cookies!

<br>Crock Pot Peach Cobbler
<br>
<br>2 packages 16oz each frozen peaches, thawed and drained
<br>3/4 cups plus 1 TB sugar divided
<br>2 tsp cinnamon divided
<br>1/2 tsp nutmeg
<br>3/4 cups flour
<br>6 TB butter cut into small pieces
<br>Whipped Cream Optional
<br>
<br>Combine peaches, 3/4 cups sugar, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg in med bowl.
<br>Put into a 4.5 quart crock pot slow cooker.
<br>For topping, combine flour, remaining 1 Tb sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon in small bowl. Cutting butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over peach mixture. Cover, cook on High 2 hours.
<br>Makes 4-6 servings.
<br>Note: I added more cinnamon and nutmeg and used 3 packages of peaches and 1 package of strawberries..yummy!! I also put in some almond flavoring. I served this to our small quilt group that meets twice a month!

<br>Tuna Casserole
<br>
<br>3 TB butter
<br>1 cup chopped onion
<br>1 cup chopped celery
<br>4 cans 6.5oz tuna drained
<br>2 cups milk
<br>1/2 cup mayonnaise
<br>2 cans 10.75oz cream of mushrooms soup
<br>1 1/2 cups Parmesan shredded
<br>1 bag 16oz Egg noodles
<br>4 cups potato chips the ones that are ruffles
<br>
<br>Cook noodles set aside. Saute onions and celery in butter until soft. Add the tuna, milk, mayo, and soup and heat for a few minutes. Add noodles and cheese in pour into a baking dish. Top with crushed potato chips. Bake 350* for 30 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes before serving!

<br>Soft Chewy Oatmeal Cookies
<br>
<br>1/2 cup or 1 stick butter softened
<br>1/2 cup vegetable shortening
<br>1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
<br>2 eggs
<br>1/2 cup buttermilk
<br>1 3/4 cups flour
<br>1 tsp baking soda
<br>1 tsp baking powder
<br>1 tsp ground ginger
<br>1 tsp ground nutmeg
<br>1 tsp ground cinnamon
<br>1/4 tsp ground cloves
<br>1/2 tsp ground allspice
<br>2 1/2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
<br>1 cup raisins
<br>1 tsp pure vanilla extract
<br>
<br>Preheat oven 350* Green cookie sheets. Using electric mixer, cream together butter, shortening and sugar in a bowl until fluffy. Add eggs and beat until mixture is light in color. Add buttermilk. Sift together flour and all spices and stir into creamed mixture. Fold in oatmeal, raisins, walnuts, and vanilla blending well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes.
<br>
<br>Drizzle with Brown Butter Icing:
<br>1/2 cup butter
<br>2 cups powdered sugar
<br>1 tsp vanilla extract
<br>3 to 4 TB water
<br>Mix and drizzle.

<br>Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
<br>
<br>1 cup flour
<br>1/2 tsp salt
<br>1/2 cup plain yogurt
<br>1 TB butter buds
<br>1/2 cup packed brown sugar
<br>1/2 cup white sugar
<br>2 egg whites
<br>1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
<br>1 cup raisins
<br>1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
<br>1 tsp baking soda
<br>
<br>Preheat oven 375* Grease cookie sheets.
<br>Whisk together flour salt baking soda. Set aside
<br>In large bowl mix yogurt, butter, brown sugar and white sugar until blended.
<br>Add egg whites and vanilla and mix. Add flour mixture and mix. Stir in oats and raisins.
<br>Drop by teaspoons onto cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes. Press center of cookie and if it springs back cookies are done. Refrigerate.

<br>West African Peanut Soup with Chicken
<br>
<br>3/4 cup roasted and shelled peanuts
<br>2 TB peanut or neutral oil
<br>1 med red or white onions chopped
<br>1 TB minced fresh ginger or 1 tsp powdered ginger
<br>1 TB minced garlic or 1/8 tsp powdered garlic
<br>1/2 lb. skinless, boneless chicken 2 thighs or breast cut into pieces
<br>pinch of cayenne
<br>salt and pepper to taste
<br>6 cups chicken stock  
<br>2 sweet potatoes peeled and sliced thick. (I usually wash them,pierce the skin with a fork; heat in microwave until just beginning to soften when squeezed)
<br>8 plum tomatoes cored and halved...canned is fine
<br>1/2 lb collards or kale washed and cut into wide ribbons
<br>1/4 to 1/2 cup peanut butter chunky

<br>Chop peanuts or pulse them in a food processor to chop roughly
<br>Put oil in a deep skillet over med heat; a minute later add onion, ginger, garlic and cook until onions are soft 3-5 minutes.
<br>Add chicken and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until just colored. Add 1/2 cup peanuts and cayenne and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
<br>Stir in the stock and sweet potatoes bringing to a boil, turn heat down to medium-low so the soup bubbles gently. Stir in tomatoes and collards then cook, stirring occasionally until chicken is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
<br>Stir in 1/4 cup peanut butter. Taste, adjust seasonings, you may want to add more peanut butter at this time. Top with remaining peanuts & Serve!

<br>Polish Sausage & Potatoes
<br>
<br>1 to 1.5lbs Polish sausage sliced
<br>1 large package about 2 lbs of hashed brown potatoes
<br>1 4oz can chopped mild chile peppers, optional
<br>1 can Cheddar cheese soup
<br>3/4 cup evaporated milk
<br>1 bunch green onions about 6-8 diced
<br>pepper to taste
<br>garlic powder to taste
<br>
<br>Grease or spray crock pot with non stick cooking spray
<br>Combine sausage, potatoes, onions and seasoning in crock pot. Mix together soup and milk and pour over ingredients in the crock pot and stir to blend. Cook on Low 5-7 hours stirring gently a few times.

<br>
<br>10 3/4oz can of Cream of Celery Soup
<br>1/3 cup packed brown sugar
<br>1 27oz can sauerkraut, drained
<br>1 1/2lbs of Polish sausage, cut into 2 inch pieces and browned
<br>4 medium potatoes, cubed
<br>1 cup chopped onions
<br>1 cup or 4oz shredded Monterey Jack cheese
<br>
<br>In your crock pot combine soup, sugar and sauerkraut. Stir in sausage, potatoes and onions. Cover. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours
<br>
<br>Stir in cheese and serve!

<br>Old World Sauerkraut Supper
<br>
<br>3 strips bacon, cut into small pieces
<br>2 TB flour
<br>2 15oz cans sauerkraut
<br>2 small potatoes cubed
<br>2 small apples cubed
<br>3 TB brown sugar
<br>1 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
<br>3 lbs Polish sausage cut into 3 inch pieces
<br>1/2 cup water
<br>
<br>Fry bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving drippings. Add flour to bacon drippings. Blend well. Stir in sauerkraut and bacon. Transfer to slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients. 
<br>Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours or on high 3-4 hours!

<br>Scalloped Potatoes & Polish Sausage
<br>
<br>1/4 cup chopped green peppers
<br>1/2 cup chopped onions
<br>1 1/2 cups diced Velveeta cheese
<br>7-8 medium potatoes sliced
<br>10 3/4oz can Cream of Celery Soup
<br>1 soup can of milk
<br>1 lb Polish sausage, cut into 2 inch chunks and browned
<br>Salt to taste if needed
<br>
<br>Place layer of green peppers, onions, cheese and potatoes in slow cooker. Add a sprinkling of salt. Lay sausage pieces on top of potatoes. Combine soup and mile and pour into slow cooker, pushing meat down into liquid.
<br>Cover. Cook on high 1 1/2 hours. Reduce temperature to low and cook 3-4 hours. Test that the potatoes are soft. If not, continue cooking on low for another hour and test again. Cook until potatoes are done.

<br>Sauced Up Burgers
<br>
<br>2 lbs of hamburg
<br>4 TB butter
<br>1 whole Large Yellow Onion Sliced
<br>1 cup heavy cream
<br>1/2 cup Crumbled Blue Cheese(Yes! Use it even if you don't like blue cheese, I promise you'll love it in this!)
<br>
<br>Make your hamburgers the way you normally do and then serve this sauce on them.
<br>Saute onions in the butter over high heat. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until golden brown. Turn heat down and pour in heavy cream. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until thickened. The mixture is reduced by 1/2. Stir in blue cheese until melted. Top our burgers!

<br>Suzie's Chicken Tortilla Soup
<br>
<br>Combine in crock pot and cook until chicken is tender and can be shredded into small pieces

<br>1 lb chicken
<br>2 cloves of garlic or minced garlic
<br>1 med onion chopped

<br>1 tsp salt
<br>1 tsp cumin
<br>1/4 tsp black pepper
<br>1 bay leaf remove after chicken is cooked
<br>1 TB chopped cilantro
<br>1 14.5oz can of chicken broth
<br>2 cups water
<br>Juice from 1 lime
<br>
<br>Add:
<br>1 15oz can of diced tomatoes
<br>1 can of enchilada sauce
<br>1 4oz can of green chilies
<br>1 10oz package of frozen corn
<br>1 can black beans
<br>
<br>Simmer and serve. Top with optional toppings:
<br>Tortilla chips
<br>Avocados
<br>Monterey Jack shredded cheese
<br>green onions
<br>sour cream
<br>salsa

<br>1 cup sugar
<br>1/2 cup cocoa 
<br>mix well.
<br>In pan add:
<br>1 cup milk
<br>3 TB flour
<br>Cook until thick
<br>Add sugar and cocoa to this and mix.
<br>Add:
<br>1 TB oleo
<br>1 tsp vanilla extract
<br>Now this is ready to pour over your ice cream!!

<br>Pat's Tuna/Chicken Tacos
<br>
<br>4 flour tortillas
<br>1 large can tuna drained well or canned chicken drained well
<br>1 small can sliced black olives drained
<br>1 chopped onion red, white or green scallions
<br>1 stalk celery chopped
<br>shredded cheese
<br>garlic powder to taste but optional
<br>mayonnaise  be generous as it makes them moist
<br>French's mustard very little
<br>
<br>Mix ingredients well. Fold and fry in buttered pan. Use medium heat so everything has a chance to melt together. Cook until tortilla is nicely browned on both sides. Or use your George For man grill and brown both sides at once!

<br>1 can whole kernel corn drained
<br>1 tomato diced and chopped small
<br>1 cuke chopped small
<br>1/2 tsp dry mustard
<br>1/2 tsp celery seed

<br>1/2 cup sour cream
<br>2 TB vinegar
<br>Salt and pepper to taste.
